About five or six years ago, we really kind of began to ask ourselves, what can we do with this property that not only has an impact on the present, but also will have a lasting impact on the future. It really began to push more and more toward the idea that this would not be an industrial site, and in fact, this would be more of a space that we would be able to return back to the citizens of Kingsport.
We wanted something that would accommodate your recent college grad all the way through to your retiree. Some nice open space, we’ll have a nice clubhouse, swimming pool, some of the standard stuff. We’re looking at having basketball courts, pickleball, playground and some extras as well.
“I don’t know of a project in my lifetime that is more exciting than this one,” Kingsport Economic Development Board Chair Craig Dennison told News Channel 11.
